Dhoni awarded clean U by Censor Board

Scheduled to release on Feb. 10, Prakash Raj-Master Akash starrer Dhoni underwent the mandatory censor procedure today. The film has been awarded a clean U by the authorities. Produced and directed by Raj himself, the film sees him in the role of a middle-class father. The music scored by Illayaraja was released very recently.

All eyes are set on this film for obvious reasons. PR says that Dhoni mirrors parent's sensibility. "My daughter is studying in XI grade and I could see the pressure building since she was in the Eighth grade. Similar was the case with my nephew; on seeing these situations at home I could connect with Mahesh Manjrekar's movie (Dhoni is based on Mahesh's Marathi film, Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho), so I decided to remake it and bought the rights from Mahesh. The movie isn't about the pressure a child faces. The parent is the victim. Dhoni is an attempt to get the right perception - the education system isn't wrong, our perceptions of it are. Parents build pressure for themselves as well as the child. Whether it is family, love, sexuality, education or companionship, unless we have the right perception we will never be at ease", Prakash told a newspaper.

In fact, Prakash's making the film in Tamil has made Mahesh expedite his plans of remaking the original in Hindi, lest someone acquires the rights from PR (given the trend of Bollywood remaking Southern films). Buzz some months ago was that Salman Khan would star in the Hindi version. Click the Movie button below for more info:
