I hope to get awards for 'Hamari Beti': Naidu

Jun 10, 2006 B. Anuradha

Hyderabad, June 10 (IANS) Well-known Telugu producer Rama Naidu is coming up with a comedy titled "Sri Krishna 2006" and says it will entertain all sections of society.

"It's a full-blown comedy aimed at all sections. I have been laughing from the day I heard the script and Vijendraprasad has ably transformed it on celluloid."

But his expectations are high from the Hindi film "Hamari Beti", which has an atypical story. "It is a sensitive film revolving around a dumb and deaf girl who becomes an Odissi dancer after many struggles."

Excerpts:

How do you describe "Sri Krishna 2006"?

It's a full-blown comedy aimed at all sections. It will be on the lines of my blockbuster "Aha Naa Pellanta". I have been laughing from the day I heard the script and Vijendraprasad has ably transformed it on celluloid.

Srikanth and Venu have done a good job and actress Gauri Munjal is promising.

You seem to be fascinated with art films and your next, "Hamari Beti", is ready for release?

That's right. I hope to grab big awards for "Hamari Beti". Director A.K. Bir has delivered a sensitive film revolving around a dumb and deaf girl who becomes an Odissi dancer after many struggles.

We intend to participate in various foreign film festivals before eventually releasing it in India. As of now, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Is it true that you are making a cop story with Suresh Gopi in Malayalam and also trying to fulfil your ambition to make films in all Indian languages soon?

It's not a cop story but a story set in a village. Suresh and Jayaraj are doing a good job and we intend to release it in July.

I am also planning films in Marathi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi, to name a few, in order to accomplish my long cherished goal of making films in all Indian languages. My dream will come true sooner rather than later.

Will you revive Hindi film production?

Yes, in a big way. I am going to Mumbai to talk to director Satish Kaushik. We intend to launch a film in August. Either it could be a remake of my earlier hits or a straight subject.

Similarly, I want to make Telugu films regularly and I am finalising a few subjects to keep my banner floating high.
