Bangalore, June 26 (IANS): Coming up is "News", a Kannada film featuring Upendra and the glamorous Reema Sen as journalists.

Director N.K. Maheshwaran, talking about the film by Vidya Enterprises, said it is about "investigative journalism".

The Chennai-based filmmaker had earlier directed a Kannada film, "Vikram", and even written the story and script for the award-winning film "Nandi".

Upendra and Reema play journalists in the film, while Renuka Menon and Amrutha also feature in the movie.

In Bangalore Palace, the sets of the film where reporters were invited, sequences featuring Upendra, Reema Sen, Renuka Menon and new actress Kiran were being shot.

Senthil Kumar, who had earlier wielded the camera for Rajnikanth's "Arunachalam", was in charge when reporters were invited to the sets.

Upendra, playing the role of a journalist for the first time, said he was impressed by the story.

Reema, asked why she accepted the film, said in jest that the major attraction was it had Upendra in the lead.

Renuka, who has done Malayalam and Telugu films like "Freedom Unlimited" and "Ananadamaanandamaayi", said she wanted to be known as a multilingual and multifaceted actress.

The film has already completed 35 days of shooting and another 25 days remain.

"We have decided to shoot songs after completing the talkie portion. The locations for the songs have not been decided yet, but we may not go abroad for shooting the songs as the story does not demand it," said producer Sriram.
