No festive dubbed releases: Council
Nov 8, 2011 HPChallenged by the phenomenon of dubbed films faring better than straight Telugu films, the Producer's Council has put forward a litany of demands before the Film Chamber for consideration.
They want the State Government to levy a tax of at least 40% on dubbed films. Besides, the dubbed films shall not be released in more than 85 screens across the State. Their yet another key demand is that a rule should be framed to bar the release of dubbed films during the famous festivals like Sankranthi, Dasara and Deepawali. These demands were made by a committee which was specially formed.
The demands are, in their opinion, meant to protect the interests of the Telugu film industry. It may be noted that there has always been demands from many quarters to become stricter vis-a-vis originally made in Kollywood. The demand became vociferous when the Kannada industry came down heavily on Telugu films. The committee that has made the demands.
