Radical film opens in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (IANS): Leftist filmmaker R. Narayamurthy has again made a pro-Maoist film. Curiously titled "Gangamma Jatara", the Telugu film releases this week in theatres.

"We have again chosen an issue affecting the poor and the deprived," asserted the maverick director, who also describes the film as "an emotional saga between a father and his daughter".

The filmmaker denied that he had chosen a devotional title, saying 'jatara' could mean a huge gathering of people who have come together to resolve a social issue.
