Record-breaking films are the trend

It's the season for records to be broken and made. And it's all decided on the first day of collections and the number of theatres the film releases in. The storyline, the actors, technical acumen, nothing matters. All that comes later only if the film goes beyond the second week of running.

Tollywood is abuzz with records. Who created what and who broke what? Pokiri created several records. All the films that released after that had only one thing in mind, 'How to break Pokiri's record?' Next came, Magadheera. This film erased the previous record and created its own.

Then dubbed films came as a big jolt to Tollywood. Dookudu was like a breath of fresh air in Tollywood. Records of collections day wise were flashed all over, adding to the hype. Now comes Oosaravelli and the festive spirit is adding to its pre-release publicity. But is a film only about the expected collections? Could we have some decent cinema as well, please?
