'Samba' may break Rs.210 mn record
Jun 26, 2004 IANS Jun 26Hyderabad, June 26 (IANS): With Telugu film "Samba" going strong after two weeks in over 310 centres, NTR Jr seems set to break the enviable record of Chiranjeevi's "Tagore".
"It has grossed the highest openings in my career," says the young actor who pushed himself into the big league with just eight films, including blockbusters like "Aadi" and "Simhadri".
"Tagore" had grossed Rs.210 million in 21 days.
NTR Jr attributes the success of "Samba" to the message of the film and to his angry man image. The film tells the tale of a youth who mows down rivals to carry forward the mission of his father to educate the poor and bring back glory to the Rayalaseema region.
"Samba" has grossed over Rs.100 million. With no big films around for release, it seems NTR Jr is on the verge of establishing yet another record.
