Saif Ali Khan’s last release ‘Rangoon’ may have proved to be a debacle, but this talented actor has no dearth of films in his kitty, as filmmakers are pouring in with one film after the other.

So, now after playing a businessman in ‘Bazaar,’ a chef in ‘Chef,’ and a doctor in a yet untitled medical drama, the Nawabi actor shall don a warrior’s avatar for his next.

According to reports, Saif Ali Khan has been roped in to play a commander-in-chief of the Mughal imperial army in Navdeep Singh’s action drama, based on the battle of Buxar.

The Battle of Buxar was fought on October 22, 1764 between the forces under the command of the British East India Company led by Hector Munro and the combined armies of Mir Qasim, the Nawab of Bengal; the Nawab of Awadh; and the Mughal King Shah Alam II. Saif will be seen in the role of Mirza Najaf Khan, the commander-in-chief of the Mughal Imperial Army.

The period drama is being produced by Aanand L Rai.
