Nithya Menen replaces Jyothika in Vijay 61

Vijay 61 being directed by Atlee went on floors recently. The film being funded by Sri Thenandal Films was said to have Jyothika as one of the leads, but the Mozhi heroine backed out of the project due to creative differences with Atlee.

As per the latest reports, Nithya Menen has filled in this spot. This is the first time, we would see Nithya Menen in a Vijay film. Earlier on, there were talks that Asin might replace Jyothika and there were also reports that suggested that the unit is considering bringing someone from Bollywood for this role.

Besides Nithya, the film also has Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha as the lady leads. Vijay 61’s story is written by Vijayendra Prasad, father of SS Rajamouli, AR Rahman scores music, GK Vishnu is the DoP while Ruben will be handling the cuts.
