While there have been many biopics focussing on many profilific people from the past and present, this is as big as it gets.

A film biopic will reportedly immortalise on screen the first date and first kiss of America’s first couple, Michelle and Barack Obama.

Southside With You will tell the story of that fateful summer afternoon in 1989 when the future president meet his first lady. The two were working in a corporate law firm in the south side of Chicago when Michelle, then 25, was assigned to mentor a 27-year-old Barack Obama.

Actress Tika Sumpter has reportedly been lined up to portray the future first lady but no one has yet identified a man to fill the shoes of the future first African American commander in chief.

Richard Tanne is set to direct the independent feature from his own screenplay. Filming is set to begin in Chicago in July.

On the Obamas’ epic first date, Michelle and Barack visited the Art Institute, took a long walk and saw a film by Spike Lee, Do The Right Thing.

The site of the new couple’s first kiss – outside a Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlour in the Hyde Park neighbourhood– was commemorated with a city plaque in 2012.
