OK Kanmani to be remade in Hindi

OK Kanmani directed by Mani Ratnam featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen was a great hit this year beginning. The film had a perfect balance of current generation sensibilities and also traditional value systems. Prakash Raj and Leela Samson played pivotal roles in the film and the feel was much accentuated by AR Rahman’s music and P C Sreeram’s cinematography.

OK Kanmani was made in Tamil and Telugu and now it looks like it is crossing the Vindhyas to go to the Hindi hinterland. The film is going to be remade in Hindi by none other than Mani Ratnam’s protégé Shaad Ali who earlier directed Saathiya which again is the remake of Ratnam’s Alai Paayudhae. It looks like A R Rahman will be composing music for the Hindi version too.

Mani Ratnam confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, I have the rights of the original Tamil film and the Hindi remake has been finalized. It will be directed by Shaad Ali”.
