Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan finalised for Gustakhiyan

It’s a treat for the audience when two stellar actors come together onscreen for a unique project and looks like movie buffs are soon going to get treated to one such film.

It has been reported that Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan, who were last seen together in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ are all set to come together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gustakhiyan’, which is based on legendary poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and his muse, the bohemian author Amrita Pritam.

A source close to the development of the film said, “Irrfan has been on board from the start. He was our first choice and he remains our only choice to play Sahir Ludhianvi.”

In fact, a few years ago Irrfan had even expressed his desire to play Sahir Ludhianvi in a film. “I don’t have to prepare to play Sahir. I’ve grown up with his poetry,” Irrfan had said in an interview.

Even the ‘Baywatch’ girl had been finalised for some time now. The source said, “With her smouldering sensuality, outgoing personality and husky diction, Priyanka is the perfect fit for Amrita Pritam.”

‘Gustakhiyan’ will be directed by debutant Jasmeet Reen and the film will trace the tumultuous blow-hot-blow-cold relationship between the iconic poet Sahir Ludhianvi and author Amrita Pritam and their association that lasted for nearly forty years.
