Quentin Tarantino casts female lead for his next 'The Hateful Eight'
Oct 13, 2014 NRAfter securing a shooting location for The Hateful Eight, director Quentin Tarantino has also decided on a female lead, according to a recent report.
Jennifer Jason Leigh will play the part of Daisy Domergue, a wanted criminal being transported by two bounty hunters, sources told The Wrap. Leigh attended a live-reading of the film script back in April, where she sat next to Harvey and Bob Weinstein, along with producer Stacey Sher.
The role of Domergue has been chased by several other top tier actresses, including Robin Wright, Michelle Williams, Hillary Swank and Demi Moore. According to The Wrap, Tarantino will also be reuniting with past collaborators Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen for the film.
The rest of the cast is expected to be rounded out by James Remar, James Parks, Dana Gourrier, and Zoe Bell; the rumor about Viggo Mortensen has yet to be confirmed.
The Hateful Eight follows a two bounty hunters, the aforementioned prisoner Domergue, and a sheriff in post-Civil War Wyoming, as a storm passes in the countryside. The crew is likely to begin filming early next year.
