Rajini gets his award

Superstar Rajinikanth was bestowed upon the award for Indian Film Personality of the Year at the Goa International Film Festival that began yesterday on the 20th November. The award was given to him by none other than the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and also by Arun Jaitley, Union Minister. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs.10 lakhs, a certificate and the Silver Peacock Medal. It was instituted last year to commemorate 100 years of Indian Cinema.

In his acceptance speech, Rajinikanth said, “I came here to receive an award and not to make a speech that too after such an excellent speech by Amit Ji. I have no words to speak now. About 5 to 6 times, I couldn't make it to the IFFI before. This time I am fortunate and honored to receive such a prestigious award. I thank the Government of India and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting”.

He also dedicated his award to his producers, directors, technicians and fans and thanked everybody.
