Rihanna adds a new tattoo above her ankle to her impressive collection of body art

Singer Rihanna was spotted stopping by a tattoo parlour in New York and was later seen sporting a new body art above her right ankle.

The 27-year-old on Wednesday wore a simple white long-sleeved top, ripped sweatpants, and platform lace-up shoes.

The latest addition into her extensive body art collection was simply '1988'.

The tattoo parlour shared on its photo-sharing website Instagram account an image of Rihanna's new tattoo.

"@badgalriri like I told you last night - you're my favourite person to tattoo '1988'," read a caption alongside the image.

The "Diamonds" hitmaker later shared the image on her own Instagram page and captioned it simply with "killz Tagged by my dear friend @bangbangnyc".

The new inking marked over 20 tattoos for Rihanna, ten of which were inked by the same tattoo parlour Bang Bang.

She had most recently etched a tribal design covering her entire right hand prior to the ankle tattoo.
