In 2014 Riteish Deshmukh made a powerful debut in Marathi cinema with his film 'Lai Bhaari.’ Now the ‘Bank-Chor’ actor is all set for his second outing in the Marathi film industry and this time around Riteish is all set to step into the shoes of the iconic Maratha warrior — ‘Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj.’

In a recent interview the Banjo actor was quoted saying, “Marathi films have been driven by good content for a long time. They have thus won many accolades and awards. The team is working hard to make this film a kind of a film that Shivaji's followers would be proud of. There is a certain pride in playing the role of the great Maratha warrior. It is going to be challenging.”

What’s more, just like his previous film ‘Lai Bhaari’, this one too might see superstar Salman Khan in a cameo.

“It was extremely gracious of him (Salman) to have offered to be a part of this without knowing exactly what part he is going to play. I respect that faith he has in me and our friendship,” Riteish said in an interview.

The film will be produced by Riteish and Genelia's home production and the epic biopic will be directed by the talented Ravi Jadhav, who has directed Marathi movies like 'Time pass', 'Balak Palak' and ' Natarang'.
