Ryan Gosling's debut film as director to miss out on theatrical release
Dec 30, 2014 NRRyan Gosling's first feature film as director/writer, Lost River, won't be getting a theatrical release in the U.S.
According to Variety, the film will be released on home entertainment platforms in April.
The film, starring Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, and Christina Hendricks, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to boos and criticism from both audiences and critics.
Critics that didn’t like the movie often compared it to the works of outré filmmakers like David Lynch and Gosling's frequent collaborator Nicolas Winding Refn.
