
Sanal Kumar Sashidharan's 'Sexy Durga' bags the Hivos Tiger Award in Rotterdam
Feb 6, 2017 SJSanal Kumar Sashidharan’s ‘Sexy Durga’ won the Hivos Tiger Award, awarded for the Best Film, at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. This is the first Indian feature film to win the prize.
The prize amount is 40,000 Euros (approximately Rs 29 lakhs). Many films from different parts of the world were showcased during the Film Festival; held in Rotterdam in Netherlands.
The film featuring Kannan Nair and Rajshri Deshpande in the lead is a thriller narrating the horrifying experiences of Durga, a north Indian migrant and a youth named Kabeer who are running away at midnight.
The camera of the film shot completely at night was handled by Prathap Joseph. ‘Sexy Durga’ is produced by Shaji Mathew and Arun Mathew.

Sanal Kumar’s ‘Oral Pokkam’ and ‘Ozhivudivasathe Kali’ has won several accolades. ‘Sexy Durga’ is his third feature film.
