Veteran director Sridhar is known for his trendsetting films like Kalyana Parisu, Kadalikka Neram Illai, Nenjil Oru Aalayam and so on and his works still inspire many young directors. In fact, he was the person who had inspired director K Balachander in many ways. His initial films had many similarities to director Sridhar’s works. It is not just those old names; we have our latest director Selvaraghavan also taking inspiration from Sridhar. In fact he has gone a step ahead and has taken the rights for one of his old films to be remade.

According to industry sources, Selvaraghavan has taken the rights of the 1963 film Nenjam Marappadillai directed by Sridhar. The film deals with the subject of rebirth and has many mythical elements that have attracted Selvaraghavan to remake it. In fact, the film has been the inspiration for Telugu film Magadheera and also Bollywood hit film of Shahrukn Khan, Om Shanti Om.

With a track record of mixing mythical and fantasy elements into regular commercial films very well, Selvaraghavan will now present Nenjam Marappadillai in his very own format. Presently the director is keeping his fingers crossed on his big-budget fantasy flick Irandam Ulagam, which will release soon.
