If Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to be a tough task master, then even Shahid Kapoor is known to go that extra mile to prepare for his role and when these two are coming together, one thing is for sure that they will not leave a single stone unturned to stay true to the film.

Shahid Kapoor is currently working on the maverick director’s magnum opus – ‘Padmavati.’ In the period drama, Shahid is playing Raja Ratan Singh and the actor is prepping hard to get into the skin of his character.

The ‘Rangoon’ actor has been learning sword fighting for the past one month and has six different trainers teaching him six different forms of sword-fighting. Awesome, isn’t it?

A source close to the developments of the film revealed, “The Rajputana style of sword-fighting is an evolved one, which requires the body to be both strong and agile at the same time. Shahid has been taught bits of Gatka, a mix of Angampora and Kalaripayattu. He is also learning spearplay, as the spear is a customary weapon among Rajputs. He has been training for 24 days now.”

The source further added, “Shahid is also learning the basics of mardani khel, which is a weapon based martial art as well as sqay, which is a South Asian form of sword fighting. To maintain his physique, Shahid Kapoor has also undergone a massive change in his diet. He has subjected to protein rich diet that helps in having an agile body.”

‘Padmavati’ also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. While Deepika plays Rani Padmavati, Ranveer essays the role of Alauddin Khilji. The movie is set for a Novermber 17, 2017 release.
