Special 26 remakes

Special 26, a Hindi heist film starring Akshay Kumar directed by Neeraj Pandey received positive reviews. The film was a well made thriller based on a real robbery that happened in Mumbai in 1987.

Producer/actor/director Thyagarajan had bought the remake rights of this film in all south Indian languages. He has announced the heroes in the languages. In Tamil, his son Prashanth will reprise the role that Akshay Kumar played in the original. Ravi Teja in Telugu, Dileep in Malayalam and Darshan in Kannada will be helming the lead roles in the respective languages.

Thyagarajan says that Prakash Raj and Sathyaraj would take on the roles of Manoj Bajpai and Anupam Kher in the original. Besides them, the Tamil version will have Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, Thulasi. M S Bhaskar and others. About the heroine, he says that he would be bringing in a top heroine of the south to feature as the lady lead in all the four languages.
