Heroes influencing youth is not a new phenomenon. However, in Malayalam, a few heroes only have succeeded to influence youth to emulate their looks in films.

Here’s a lowdown on the actors, their films and the way they have influence the youth in the recent past!

The love story by Alphonse Putharen showcased Nivin Pauly in three getups. However, his black slim shirt and bordered mundu with a thick black beard and sunglass became a rage with the youth. This Onam, Kerala witnessed a huge demand for the attire and the wave is yet to die down!

The character’s obsession for sun glasses, colourful shirts, multiple gold chains and the perfect Trivandrum lingo became a cult hit and no need to say that the youngsters in Kerala lapped it up.His dialogue from the move ‘Thalle Kalippu Theeranilla’ is still considered a knockout one and the same was even used in the film Premam.

Mammootty who is considered a style icon has also inspired many with his Hitler shirts that he donned for the hit movie Hitler, in which he essayed the role of Madhavankutty. The plain colour silk shirts became fashionable after the movie’s release.

This megahitcult movie showcased Mohanlal as a raw yet sophisticated man who had to spend time in jail for no fault of his. His character Induchoodan with a twirled moustache influenced a new style into the audience, from the mundu worn by him to the catch phrase,“Po Mone Dinesa”. The type of mundu worn by Mohanlal became popularly known as Narasimham Mundu and became a fashion trend.

Jayasurya is one actor who experiments with his roles and looks as well. The year 2015 showcased him in three different getups for films but all with beards. While his friendly mutton chops beard became an attraction for the youth in Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu, his common man beard was followed by a lot of youngsters after Lukka Chuppi released in which he enacted a creative drunkard, Raghuram.

Kunchacko Boban’s goatee look in Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum appealed to the youth. His recent bearded look in the movie Jamna Pyari has also many takers. The actor sported a boxed beard in the movie and he had the same looks in his earlier movies such as in Vishudhan and Konthayum Poonoolum.

Though the film had everything for the audience to hate the cunning Cyril enacted by Fahadh, what attracted the attention of the youth was his boxer shorts. His boxer shorts were a hit in the movie Diamond Necklace too.
