They wrote their success stories on their own.


We are talking about the Bollywood stars who carved their own niche in this highly competitive industry, where not having a Godfather is considered as a crime.


But, not anymore.


Today, Bollywood can boasts of some of the true-blue success stories of stars who are ruling the Box Office sans piggy backing on sugar daddies but on their hard work, talent and of course luck!




Shah Rukh Khan


If there has to be a success story that will be told for years to come in Bollywood, it has to be Shah Rukh Khan’s .


“Never underestimate the power of a common man!,” a dialogue from King Khan’s last release Chennai Express, suits him to the T.


How a middle class lad from Delhi made it to TV, finally kissing the Numero Uno position in Bollywood is stuff that a Bollywood film is made up of.


He began his acting stint with TV serials Fauji and Circus and soon he materialized his designs on the silver screen and rest as they say is history.


A life that many dream to live didn’t come to SRK as inheritance but with sheer hard work and will.





Aishwarya Rai Bachchan


Yet another name that every budding star looks up to is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.


For the uninitiated, Aishwarya had no plans to do movies.


Being an architect was on her mind but destiny had different plans for the doe eyed beauty.


She ventured into modeling and kissed popularity way before her first film hit the screens.


She was already wooing many a hearts with her Sanju act in the Pepsi commercial.


Soon the big things started happening to Aishwarya and she won the Miss World beauty pageant to become a world renowned name.


Then came Iruvar and gradually she became one of the biggest brand in Bollywood.




Priyanka Chopra


For those who think that models can’t act, Priyanka Chopra can make you rethink.


Daddy’s girl PC travelled across the country thanks to her Doctor dad’s Army postings. She didn’t have any Bollywood connect but was


born with stars in her eyes that dreamt of facing the camera.


PC’s entry in Bollywood followed her winning the Miss World title and there was no looking back after that.


PC always knew what she wanted. With correct moves and passion to succeed Priyanka is counted among the top most actresses in Bollywood.


Not just that she has also made a name for herself on the International music arena with two of her singles.




Akshay Kumar


From being a waiter in a restaurant in Bangkok to being one of the most popular actors in Bollywood, Amritsar boy Akshay Kumar has come a long way – all by himself.


Trained in martial arts, Rajiv Bhatia transformed himself into Khiladi Kumar and Bollywood got his very one King Singh and soon there was no looking back for Akshay.




Vidya Balan


A graduate in Sociology, Vidya was born in a Malayalee family with no connection in Bollywood.


She started her struggle into big world of Bollywood with modeling.


She did many TV commercials, music videos and the popular TV show Hum Paanch.


Soon, south cinema happened to her but unfortunately everything looked jinxed as either her movies were not getting released or she was being dropped from the cast.


Finally, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was convinced that she would be her Parineeta after a number of screen shots and then there was no looking back for the actress.




Ranveer Singh


Bandra boy Ranveer always wanted to be an actor but had no clue how to make way into the industry.


Before getting his big debut Band Baaja Baraat, Ranveer had done his fair share of struggle doing various jobs including being a copy writer in an ad agency to assisting Shaad Ali as an AD in various ad films.

Another army kid, Anishka’s entry into films happened after a long stint with modeling.

Arjun Rampal


From modeling to movies.


He was one of the most successful supermodels of the country who broke the myth that models can’t act.


His modeling career began when designer Rohit Bal discovered him at a Delhi discotheque.


But his movie career belongs entirely to himself – strictly no Godfathers there.


After a series of flop films, Arjun is that Dark Horse who emerged a winner only in the recent times thanks to correct choice of roles.




Bipasha Basu


She dreamt to be a doctor but then modeling happened by accident, which brought this Kolkata born Bong beauty to Mumbai.


Soon began her struggle from being a nobody to somebody in Bollywood.


Before making it big into films, a number of private albums and advertisements came into Bips’ kitty.


And then films happened with Ajnabee being her debut film.
