Supreme Court asks Latha Rajinikanth's firm to pay up

Feb 21, 2018 JB

The Supreme Court asked Mediaone Global Entertainment, a company in which Latha Rajinikanth is a director, to pay ₹6.2 crore it owes to Ad Bureau, a movie distribution company for the post-production work it did for the Tamil film Kochadaiyaan along with the interest within 12 weeks. If Media One Global Entertainment fails to pay Ad Bureau, Latha should personally clear the debt, the Supreme Court order added.

Media One Global Entertainment borrowed RS 10cr from Ad Bureau when they faced a financial crisis during the post-production of Kochadaiiyaan. Though the producers of Kochadaiiyaan promised that TN distributions rights will be given to Ad Bureau, they breached the agreement and sold the film to EROS International.

A Bench led by Justice Ranjan Gogoi passed the order while hearing an appeal filed by distribution company Ad Bureau Advertising Private Limited against an order passed by the Karnataka High Court on March 10, 2016 quashing criminal proceedings pending before a Magistrate court in Bengaluru.
