Hariharan honoured with Lata Mangeshkar award

Playback singer Hariharan has been honoured with the National Lata Mangeshkar award at a function held in Indore.


Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma gave the award to the 58-year-old singer.


Hariharan, is the 28th recipient of the award and the award comprises of Rs two lakh cash, honour plaque, shawl and a coconut.


The singer is known for his songs in Hindi films like 'Roja', 'Bombay', 'Jeans', 'Indian', 'Taal', 'Shivaji', 'Guru', 'Border' and 'Virasat'. He has also sung for various Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telugu films.


In 2004, the singer was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
