It's a girl for actor Karthi, wife

Chennai, Jan 11 (IANS) Tamil actor Karthi is on cloud nine after he became a proud father of a girl. His wife Ranjini gave birth to their daughter in Apollo Hospital here Friday.

"Karthi has two reasons to be happy today - while his Tamil film 'Alex Pandian' released today worldwide to overwhelming response, he has also become a father of a baby girl. Both the mother and baby are fine," read a statement.

"The baby was born around 3 p.m. in Apollo hospital here," the statement added.

Karthi tied the knot with Ranjini July 3, 2011 in Coimbatore. He got married while he was shooting for "Saguni".

"Alex Pandian" is directed by Suraaj and features Karthi in the lead alongside Anushka Shetty and Santhanam.
