Chennai, Aug 15 (IANS) Vijay-starrer Tamil action-drama "Thalaivaa" released worldwide, except in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, last week. Now producer Chandra Prakash Jain has requested the intervention of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha to help the film's release in these two places.

"We have sought an appointment with the chief minister of the state. We are waiting to meet her and discuss the issue in detail. I have already incurred huge loss due to the delay. A further delayed means heavy losses," Jain said in a statement.

Two days before its scheduled release on Aug 9, "Thalaivaa" was stalled from being released after a political outfit issued threats to theatre owners.

"It's (Thalaivaa) not a political film. I have said this several times and I'm repeating it again. We are hoping the film releases soon. I'm sure our honourable CM will help us in this regard and facilitate a smooth release of our film," he added.

It is the story of a common man who is forced to take the law into his hands to protect a small section of Tamilians living in Mumbai and, according to those who have seen the film, there is nothing controversial in it.

Reportedly made on a budget of over Rs.70 crore, "Thalaivaa" has garnered good response since its release in other states and overseas.

The film, which also features Amala Paul, Ragini Nandwani, Sathyaraj and Abhimanyu Singh, is directed by A.L. Vijay.
