Thalaivva did not release in TN, Dhanush and Simbu express concern

Actor Vijay’s Thalaivaa directed by AL Vijay did not release in Tamil Nadu on August 9. While there are unconfirmed reports that the film is stuck at the tax exemption issue, others say that the film did not release due to the violent threats received by the theatres.

Celebrities have started coming out in the open supporting Vijay and a concerned Dhanush has expressed his concerns over the non-release of the film. Dhanush said, "What happened to Thalaivaa unfair and I wish they show this kind of effort in making this country a better place to live than just to ban a film. As long as a film is not based on a true story and has fictitious characters, honestly i don't understand. I hope d matter will be resolved with the concerned parties at the earliest. I'm sure our CM will do the needful."

Simbu felt sad over the non-release of the film and expressed confidence that the film will be released soon. He asked Vijay's fans not to be upset and be patient.

By evening, the makers of the film, Vendhar Movies said that the film has cleared all the hurdles and will release from today. But there is no confirmation from the theatre owners as yet on the details of the release of Thalaivaa.
