'The Flash' set to arrive on the big screen in 2018
Oct 19, 2014 NRThe Flash, who is the fastest man (and superhero) alive, will hit theaters in 2018 with Ezra Miller, 22, in the title role. The news comes hot on the heels of DC Comics icon “The Flash’s” small-screen success on TV channel The CW.
During Time Warner's earnings meeting Wednesday, Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara announced that the studio would be making a feature about the comic book superhero starring the Perks of Being a Wallflower actor.
Tsujihara also officially announced a slew of DC projects including Suicide Squad (2016), Wonder Woman (2017), Justice League Part One (2017), Aquaman (2018), Shazam (2019), Justice League Part Two (2019), Cyborg (2020) and Green Lantern (2020).
“The Flash” story revolves around Barry Allen, a scientist who awakes from a coma and is gifted with the power of super speed. Allen is a part of the Justice League and it is expected that Miller will have some sort of cameo in the upcoming pic “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” where that team is likely to be unveiled.
Ezra revealed in a 2012 interview that he identifies himself as a “queer.” This casting is unprecedented, since Ezra will be the first openly gay actor to headline a solo superhero film.
Miller did memorable work in the drama We Need to Talk About Kevin and YA adaptation Perks. His upcoming films include Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck and indie The Stanford Prison Experiment.
