The 'Wonder Woman' film gets a female director
Nov 25, 2014 NRThe Wonder Woman film is now getting a woman as the director.
Michelle MacLaren has signed on to develop and direct the film, Warner Bros’ big-screen take on the iconic DC character.
A two-time Emmy winner, MacLaren is best known in the TV community for her work on episodes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and The X-Files.
She's only the second female filmmaker tapped to direct a movie based on a popular comic-book superhero — Lexi Alexander helmed the 2008 action film Punisher: War Zone.
Actress Gal Gadot will make her debut as the heroine in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then in the stand-alone Wonder Woman film in 2017.
The Wonder Woman movie has been in development, on and off, for close to two decades. The last director attached was Joss Whedon, who left the project in 2007.
