Theatre Owners Association condemns Vishal
Feb 23, 2018 JBTo protest against the high rates of digital firms and as a request to bring down their rates, film industries of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada have called for a strike from March 1st which indicates that there would not be fresh releases from the 1st of March. Vishal had announced that Tamil film industry also would participate in this strike.
However, theatre owners have bought digital projectors (costing from 10 to 15 lakhs) from these digital firms in instalment basis and have fixed them in their respective theatres. Therefore, theatre owners from Tamil Nadu have announced that they would not partake in this protest.
Theatre Owners Association which met in Trichy have condemned Vishal and have said, “Vishal should hereafter not speak about the rates of eatables like popcorn, cold drinks and icecream in our theatres and he also should refrain from commenting about the parking rates in theatres”. Hence it is unclear as to whether there would be fresh news releases in Tamil from the 1st of March.
