May 16, 2017 JB

President of Tamil Nadu Producer Council Vishal had recently mentioned that the industry would go an indefinite strike if their demands such as action on piracy, cap on cinema ticket fare and other issues are not addressed. He had also met the Chief Minsite of the state Edappadi Palanisamy and submitted his request.

Vishal had stated that theatres in the state would come to a stand still if a solution to the problems of the industry are not arrived at.

However, today, in a joint statement issued by the Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Association and Tamil Nadu Theatre owners Association, it is stated that the information about the closure of the theatres from 30th May in the state is false and that as usual theatres would be functional. This statement has been signed by all Theatre owners and Distributors Associations including R.Panneerselvam, Abirami Ramanathan and Tiruppur Subramaniam.
