Tom Hardy to play Elton John in biopic

Los Angeles, Oct 25 (IANS) Actor Tom Hardy has been roped in to play Elton John in "Rocketman" - a biopic on the singer.

John will re-record many of his greatest hits for "Rocketman", which is being made by Focus Features, reports dailystar.co.uk.

"Tom is quickly becoming known as one of the world's most versatile actors, and like others at the top of their craft, he has proven his ability to transform himself completely into the character or subject found in the material," said Peter Schlessel, CEO, Focus Features.

Schlessel is confident that Hardy is perfect to play the role of John on the big screen.

"We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton," Schlessel said.
