Took to prostitution due to lack of offers - Swetha Basu

Kotha Bangaru Lokam fame Shweta Basu who was arrested for prostitution in Hyderabad last Sunday revealed that she was compelled to the sex trade as she was running out of money and had to support her family.

"I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act," police sources quoted her as saying.

It is said that Shweta Basu revealed to police that there are several heroines involved in the sex trade like her due to lack of offers but refused to reveal their names. A local court sentenced her to three months rehabilitation in a rescue home run by the women and child welfare department.
