Udhayanidhi Stalin complains of irregularities in tax exemption
Oct 23, 2013 SVActor and producer, Udhayanidhi Stalin has come up with a set of allegations against the committee who decides on the tax exemption for movies. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies is into filmmaking and he has alleged that none of the films produced under his banner is being given the tax exemption by the Tamil Nadu Govt. The criteria for tax exemption are that the film should be certified U by the censors and should be in line with promotion Tamil language and culture. The film should not have excessive use of other language.
However, Udhayanidhi alleges that his films starting from OK OK till the latest one, Vanakkam Chennai have not been given tax exemption. It has to be recalled that he obtained tax exemption for his film, Neer Paravai through the intervention of Court.
Alleging rampant discrimination and violation of rules, he has submitted a seven page complaint to the Producer Council asking the body to intervene and find a solution. In his statement he has alleged that the members who are part of the deciding committee are even bringing their family and friends flouting the rules to watch the film to decide on the tax exemption request.
