Vairamuthu wants Illayaraja to compose for 30 more years

Veteran lyricist Vairamuthu and music director AR Rahman recently attended the audio launch of the film Kangaroo. Speaking at the function Vairamuthu said, "Ilaiyaraaja is the major reason behind all audio launches and he was also responsible for the growth of many including me.” He added that Ilaiyaraaja is one music composer who popularized Tamil folk music in many western countries. As the music composer has not been keeping good health, Vairamuthu said that he wanted Illaiyaraaja to come back to normal and compose music for another 30 years.

Vairamuthu and Ilaiyaraaja stopped working together about two decades ago owing to some misunderstanding. However, in the wake of Illaiyaraaja’s hospitalization and subsequent angioplasty, people from all walks of life have been wishing the veteran a speedy recovery.
