Happy Wedding review

Happy Wedding

Malayalam · 2016

'Happy Wedding' is just a harmless comic caper that could pass off as transitory entertainment. There is hardly anything in it that you would carry back home with you, and is likely to be forgotten the moment you step out of the cinema halls.

Mudhugauv review

Mudhugauv

Malayalam · 2016

'Muddugau' is just an awkward arrangement of a few outrageous lines and gags, most of which fall way off the mark. Sorry, but no kiss to this one.

Aadupuliyattam review

Aadupuliyattam

Malayalam · 2016

There is no denying the fact that the core premise on which 'Aadu puliyattam' is based holds promise. But where it wavers and tails off is in the execution of a fragile script that is weighed down by very middling technical support.

Kammattippaadam review

Kammattippaadam

Malayalam · 2016

'Kammattipadam' is a gritty, many-sided film that deftly captures a few overlapping lives in a thriving new city. Very rarely relaxing its grip on the viewer, Rajeev Ravi's film is a seething, unsettling cinematic feat that is replete with surprises and shocks galore.

Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti review

Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti

Malayalam · 2016

'Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti' has not just got its spots and twirls wrong, the lines and curves are all off beam as well. Sadly it strikes us as little more than a big cast, bigger ideas and the biggest production values, all gone to a phenomenal waste.

James and Alice review

James and Alice

Malayalam · 2016

There is no denying the good intentions that 'James and Alice' has in mind, but regrettably they get lost in the meandering pathways that the narrative wanders along. Trite and a bit flimsy as a scruffily written Valentine's Day card, 'James and Alice' might be badly in need of a miracle to work wonders at the theatres.

Shikhamani review

Shikhamani

Malayalam · 2016

Granted that the film talks of social issues that make criminals out of innocent young men and women, and the aftermath of an economic imbalance that without doubt prevails. But 'Shikhamani' is a bummer of a film that leaves a series of disappointments in its wake.

Leela review

Leela

Malayalam · 2016

In Ranjith's 'Leela', the protagonist Kuttiyapan steers his jeep across a multi-tentacled wasteland that ravenously gorges on the very lives that thrive on it. Hope has almost become extinct, souls have long fled the flesh caverns that they dwelled in and angels lie dangling from electric lines. A scalding indictment of the essential barbarity of humankind that has ingeniously been concealed under sly smiles, 'Leela' is as raw as the bleeding bruises that it vehemently rips open.

Jacobinte Swargarajyam review

Jacobinte Swargarajyam

Malayalam · 2016

The stirring message in 'Jacobinte Swargarajyam' is the biggest reason why you should probably give this film a try. It's however an emotional journey sans any surprises, and offers a proverbial take on the quite familiar matter at hand.

Mohavalayam review

Mohavalayam

Malayalam · 2016

The haziness and ambiguity that rules the lives of its characters almost ebbs over and in no time floods the film with an indistinctness all over. The loop of enchantment therefore merely remains a chalk circle, that is blown away in no time by the droning desert winds.

King Liar review

King Liar

Malayalam · 2016

'King Liar' takes upon itself the massive responsibility of living up to the much adored Siddique-Lal tag, but lacks the vigour, comedy and reason that we still remember the director-duo's comedy cult classic films for. Devoid of any real droll observations, 'King Liar' employs a script that remains content with offering us an occasional chuckle or two.

Kali review

Kali

Malayalam · 2016

'Kali' offers a brilliant take on the man-eater emotion called rage, and viscerally examines the dreadful repercussions that it could possibly have. A fine feature that is at once weighty and wicked, it upends your expectations, and how!
