Veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash passes away

Veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash died today at the age of 92. Om Prakash breathed his last in Mumbai on Wednesday morning.


He is known for directing many hit films such as ‘Aap Ki Kasam’ (1974), ‘Aakhir Kyon?’ (1985), ‘Arpan’ (1983) and ‘Aadmi Khilona Hai’ (1993) among many others. He is actor Hrithik Roshan's maternal grandfather.


The filmmaker's daughter Pinky is married to Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan. Om Prakash was born on January 24, 1927, in Sialkot, Punjab. The filmmaker made his directorial debut with ‘Aap Ki Kasam,’ which starred Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz in lead roles.


Om Prakash also produced films which became hits at the box office including ‘Aas Ka Panchhi’ (1961), ‘Ayee Milan Ki Bela’ (1964), ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’ (1966) and ‘Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke’ (1969).
