Wait for the first hit of 2014 continues

Feb 11, 2014 Noyon Jyoti Parasara

Business in Bollywood continues to be dull as it entered the second weekend of February. With four movies releasing, there was bound to be friction. It was only possible for the strongest to have survived. And so it has happened.

Out of the four releases, it is only Hasee Toh Phasee which has managed to do fair enough business. With collections of Rs 18 cr [approx] the film has stands taller while Heartless, Babloo Happy Hai and Ya Rab collapsed.

Even as Babloo Happy Hai and Ya Rab were annihilated, Heartless managed to touch the Rs 1 cr mark in the first week – not even recovering its marketing and promotional cost.

Hasee Toh Phasee will also need to sustain before it can be called a success. On a competitive note, HTP has done lesser business that Parineeti’s last film Shudh Desi Romance, which had done Rs 23 cr in the first weekend.

In the meantime Salman Khan’s Jai Ho managed to hang on at the theaters and pull in another Rs 2 cr during the weekend, taking the tally to Rs 109 cr. Clearly it will not be able to surpass the collections Ready, making this a film which should make Salman rethink his strategies.

Also the earlier week’s One By Two has been wiped out. So the wait for the first hit of 2014 continues. Click the Movie button below for more info:
