Actor-director G Marimuthu passes away

Actor-director G Marimuthu died after suffering a heart attack in Chennai on Friday. He was 57. According to reports, Marimuthu collapsed around 8.30 am while dubbing for his TV serial 'Ethirneechal.' He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.


He was recently seen as an actor in Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer.’ Hailing from Theni, Marimuthu worked in over 50 movies, apart from directing films and acting in TV shows.


He was an assistant director in the films of Rajkiran, namely 'Aranmanai Kili' (1993) and 'Ellame En Rasathan' (1995). Marimuthu worked as an assistant director with Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. He also worked as a co-director in Silambarasan's 'Manmadhan'.


Marimuthu made his directorial debut in 2008 with 'Kannum Kannum,' starring Prasanna and Udhayathara. His other films are 'Pulivaal' (2014), an adaptation of Malayalam film 'Chaappa Kurishu' (2011).


He ventured into acting with Mysskin's 'Yuddham Sei' (2011), where he portrayed the role of a corrupt police officer. His other films as an actor include 'Aarohanam' (2012), 'Nimirndhu Nil' (2014), and 'Komban' (2015) etc.


Marimuthu is survived by his wife, Backiyalakshmi, and two children - Akilan and Ishwarya. Click the Movie button below for more info:
