Actor Kalasala Babu is no more

Veteran actor Kalasala Babu passed away on Sunday night in Ernakulam. He was 68. He had been undergoing treatment for ailment for several months.

The actor was admitted to Amritha Hospital in Kochi, and he breathed his last due to cerebral hemorrhage.

Babu entered filmdom after proving his mettle as a theatre artiste.He was son of Kathakali virtuoso Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam exponent Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma. He made his debut in the film “Inaye Thedi” (1981).

He has over 50 films to his credit, including “Thuruppu Gulan”, “Runway,” “Lion,” “Pokkiriraja,” “Kaaryasthan,” “Ente Veedu Appoontem” and “College Kumaran.”

He is survived by his wife Lalitha, daughter Sreedevi and son Viswanthan.
