Anupam Kher to play former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

Political dramas always make for an engaging watch onscreen and it becomes all the more interesting when it is based on real people and incidences.


And the one political drama that is soon going to be brought alive on Indian screen is a film based on former Prime Minister of India – Manmohan Singh.


Supposedly, the film, which is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book ‘The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making And Unmaking of Manmohan Singh’, is going to be grander than Richard Attenborough’s Academy award winning ‘Gandhi.’


Confirming the news Kher said to a daily, “Acting the role of anyone in contemporary history is extremely challenging, as comparisons are bound to be instant and inevitable. But as I have always reveled in challenges, right from my first film ‘Saaransh,’ I look forward to the experience of portraying PM Manmohan Singh.”


The film, which is scheduled to release in 2018, will be directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and produced by Sunil Bohra. The screenplay of ‘The Accidental Prime Ministe’r will be written by National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta.
