Mumbai, May 18 (IANS) Actress Nimrat Kaur, who features in Ritesh Batra's "The Lunchbox", says she is not surprised to see that the film has been selected for the ongoing 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

"I am really proud of the film. It is a very personal film for the director. It is an honest film and is not trying to be something which it is not. It is very true to the place it is trying to create. While I am very proud and excited that we are going to Cannes, I am also not surprised that it has been picked up," Nimrat told IANS.

"You dream of big things when you start, but when it happens, you get surprised. You can't anticipate these things," she added.

"The Lunchbox", which features ace Indian actors Irrfan and Nawazuddin Sidduqui, is selected in the Critic's Week section of the fest.

Nimrat is happy about being a part of the movie's cast, even if she didn't get much time to work with the other actors.

"The thing is that we were working in isolation. The story is such that your paths don't cross. Irrfan and Nawaz had their paths together. I had a little work with Nawaz, but it was too little. I would have loved many more scenes with them," she said.

Talking about the plot of the film, Kaur said that it is a love story.

"Without spoiling the narrative, (I can tell that) it is basically a love story and it is about people who don't really belong to the changing fast new world which we live in. It has an old world charm to it. It is about people in their unique roles and in their own world where the little things matter," she said.

After being a part of films like "Peddlers" and "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana", she said that she is open to doing different kind of roles.

"Films are something which fascinate me. I have done a lot of plays and other work. I think I am willing to explore. There is nothing I don't want to play. I want to be able to play a man also one day," she said.

For now, the actress is in talks with filmmakers and reading scripts.
