Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ is undoubtedly one of the most awaited film of the year and whatever little glimpses of the film we have witnessed, has only got us more excited. However, be it the teaser of the film or the recently launched ‘Radio’ song, none of the early videos of the film have given us an insight about Salman Khan’s character.

But finally, director Kabir Khan spoke about Salman Khan’s character in the film during the ‘Radio’ song launch in Dubai. Kabir said, “Salman’s character is little childish who understands things a little late. Hence, we have named the film Tubelight.”

Further talking about the song, Kabir said, “It's a celebratory song at the end of a war. It's set in 1962 when the radio was essentially the only medium through which news could be obtained. Everything from entertainment to news came through radio. But it was a big song. Remo had done a very nice number 'Selfie le le' in 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. We needed same kind of scale and energy and fun. So, Remo designed it over 300 acres and we had 700-800 dancers and 1000 extras.”

Salman’s character is named Laxman in the film, who falls in love with a Chinese girl. Tubelight is based on the 1962 Sino-Indian War, and marks the Bollywood debut for Chinese star Zhu Zhu.

The film is slated to release around Eid 2017.
