Kamal in nilavembu kashayam controversy

Tamil Nadu has been having many cases of dengue and the government is advocating the consumption of nilavembu kashayam as a remedial measure. However, there are also some theories which had stated that this herbal concoction would not help in the treatment of dengue.

Therefore, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan through his social media page mentioned that this kashayam should not be taken in. This has not gone well with the health department of the state and Kamal was quick to explain his stance.

He said. "I had put out the tweet to avoid the medicine, which is under a controversy, from being given in excess quantity. I don't prefer those belonging to my welfare associations to give a medicine without the advice or direction of a doctor." He also said it was "not fair" to paint him as opposed to the traditional medicine
