Kochu Preman passes away

Actor Kochu Preman, who lapped up a space in the hearts of film buffs mainly through comic characters, passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. Preman was 68. He had been undergoing treatment for lungs-related ailments at a private hospital in the city.


Started out in theatre, Preman made his film debut through the film ‘Ezhu Nirangal’ and went on to act around 250 films. He made a mark through the 1997-film ‘Dilli Vala Rajakumaran,’ directed by Rajasenan. His character as a blind man in actor-director M B Padmakumar’s ‘Roopantharam’ was a notable one.


His major films include ‘Guru’, ‘Thilakkam,’ ‘Leela’, ‘Ordinary’, ‘Mayamohini’, ‘Action Hero Biju’ and ‘Kaduva’ etc.



Preman is survived by wife Girija Preman, an actress, and son Harikrishnan.
