Merku Thodarchi Malai chosen for International Film Festival

Leninbharathi's debut film Merku Thodarchi Malai has been chosen for screening in the upcoming International Film Festival of Kerala.


The film, which has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, has Antony and Gayathri Krishna (of Joker fame) as the leads, and the director says that the two actors worked as daily wage workers for some time, to absorb the milieu of their characters.


He adds, "The story deals with the life and struggle of people living along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border of the Western Ghats. I wanted to tell this tale as close to reality as possible, without any hint of artificiality. Antony, who has acted in minor roles in films like Kalavani, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Nedunchaalai, spent two years practicing climbing the mountains like the natives of the place, and also worked as a labourer.
