Mersal teaser clocks 20 million views in 5 days

Vijay’s Mersal was recently in the news for the wrong reason when a director lodged a complaint against the makers that he had registered the title Mersalaitaen and that this Vijay film should not use the title Mersal. The case will come for hearing in the 1st week of October.

Meanwhile, the teaser that was released on 21st September for director Atlee’s birthday has clocked over 20 million views in just five days. The film is reportedly the fastest Indian film to achieve this feat. With over 20 million views and 8 lakh likes, the teaser continues to trend at second place on YouTube.

Directed by Atlee, Mersal stars Vijay in three roles: a panchayat chief, a doctor and a magician. The film marks the second collaboration of Atlee and Vijay after Theri. Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menen play the heroines. The film, made on a huge budget of over Rs 120 crore, has been produced by Thenandal Studios Limited and is gearing up for a Diwali release.
