Hats off for at least the ambition — and there are plenty of those to doff, this being early England and all. The story relies on pulling off one major twist, but it's a rather obvious one and once you figure it out the sporadic and half-hearted attempts at grisly, jumpy scares ebb away. This is a drab effort with hardly a shock sandwiched between all the frills, frocks and Rajput finery.Perhaps all the horror there was, has been sucked out of 1920.

As for 1920 London, the film's strength is the production design with it's fancy English locations and authentic vintage cars on offer. The usual characteristics of a horror film, like eerie music, make-up, special effects and moody cinematography are all lackluster though. If you like genuine thrills you'd have to look away. This one's just for gags.

The only hilarious part is the firang doctor and his expression when he is demonstrated the power of a ghost in his hospital. That alone is worth the ticket money. Then again I find happiness anywhere. So be your own judge won't you. Hardly scary , mind numbingly flat and disastrously long, the only thing that died with this movie is the franchise, hopefully for good.
