10 kalpanakal Malayalam Movie
Stories of serial killers have always generated curiosity in us. The one-line of "10 Kalpanakal" has a perfect milieu for a crime thriller, but it would be better if you unleash your imagination to satisfy the movie buff in you than watching this damp squib.
At a time putting on director's cap becomes a snap, certain filmmakers have proved through their ouvres their lack of understanding of the trade and creativity. "10 Kalpanakal" hardly gets wrong in following this notion. It also underlines that film direction is not anybody's cup of tea.
Don Max, the director, tries to present a crime thriller with the support of ensemble cast that include Anoop Menon, Meera Jasmine, Prashanth Narayanan and Kaniha. Despite having a story that could have been a gripping tale with a riveting climax, the film fails to whip up any emotion in viewers.
Don Max, who is also an editor, relies on oodles of aerial shots to narrate the story, which has mishmash of events.
The opening scene shows Shazi Akbar (Meera Jasmine), a police officer, recounts the case of a serial killer to a group of police trainees. Victor (Prashanth Narayanan) is on the prowl and kills three girls for unknown reasons. When these cases provide clue to the murder of another teen girl, Angel, it affects the life of forest officer Davis (Anoop Menon) and his family, who happens to be the girl's neighbour.
Unfortunately, when you handle a script in an amateurish way, lead actors find themselves landed in an alien world. Apparently, their performances are largely farfetched.
With blaring background score by Mithun Eswar ruling the roost, vague dialogues gravely affect the proceedings. Thanks to the shoddy screenplay by Don Max, Shins K Jose and Sangeeth Jain, "10 Kalpanakal" fails to impress miserably.
